About Us

I-squared where ideas become innovation is a research hub that supports the development of an interdisciplinary research within the built environment. Our overarching aim is to create built environments that are not only intelligent and responsive but also adaptive, ethical, and fundamentally human-centric.

To achieve this we actively train students, industry stakeholders, and professionals globally in the application of fourth and fifth Industrial Revolution technologies. Our outreach spans both developed and developing nations, and we are proud to establish dedicated training hubs in developing regions to ensure the long-term sustainability and continuation of these vital initiatives.

Our training is funded by research councils within and outside the United Kingdom. This funding represents our strong dedication and investment in knowledge transfer. Beyond training and nurturing the next generation of built environment professionals in modern technologies, I² Research Hub pioneers the seamless integration of agentic AI, quantum computing, and immersive metaverse interfaces.

Our interdisciplinary researchers work collaboratively to revolutionise activities across the built environment.

We are united by a common goal: nurturing the next generation of leaders in:

  • Agentic AI applications for design, construction, and operations
  • Computational real estate and blockchain
  • Immersive educational design
  • Quantum computing for built environment professionals
  • Sustainable housing and net-zero solutions
  • Construction health & safety innovation
  • Smart facilities management and digital twins
